Energy sources can be as diverse as heat recovery, biomass, household waste, solar, gas or geothermal resources. Focus is on the best available energy locally or a combination of local energies with the lowest impact on the environment.

Our activity extends from city energy planning to engineering, construction, financing and long-term operation & maintenance.

EDF R&D China Centre provides support for sustainable city numerical model, renewable energy, smart grid as well as charging system for electrical vehicle, in order to bring technical support both to the Group and our Chinese partners.

Since 2016, EDF has operated a heating network serving 8 million m² of housing in Sanmenxia (Henan province). In the neighboring city of Lingbao, EDF operates a biomass cogeneration facility, which supplies heating and electricity. In 2021, the Group commissioned two centralized air conditioning networks serving hotels in a tourist area on the tropical island of Hainan and the new central business district in Jinan (capital of Shandong province). EDF also manages 140,000 streetlights in the city of Kunming, Yunnan province (south-western China).
